The Shia Muslim Foundation (SMF) proudly recognizes Chief Imam Sayed Razawi for his extraordinary leadership in forging historic reconciliation between the UK’s Muslim and Jewish communities. His vision and dedication culminated in the signing of the Drumlanrig Accord, an unprecedented agreement that lays the groundwork for lasting interfaith cooperation.
Senior Muslim and Jewish leaders in the UK held a secret summit that led to the signing of the Drumlanrig Accord, a historic reconciliation agreement aimed at strengthening ties between the two communities. The summit, initiated by Chief Imam Sayed Razawi, was held at Drumlanrig Castle in Scotland and included 11 religious leaders from across different sects and backgrounds. The agreement, which emphasizes mutual respect, dialogue, and practical cooperation, was later presented to King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, highlighting its national significance.
The accord commits both communities to joint initiatives supporting vulnerable populations and aims to establish a body to monitor Islamophobia and antisemitism in the UK. Razawi, who worked for over a year to bring Muslim and Jewish leaders together, described the summit as initially tense but quickly transforming into a space of friendship and open discussion. Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, a key figure in the agreement, called it a bold step toward rebuilding long-term trust. Leaders hope this framework will serve as a model for interfaith cooperation in other regions.
“Imam Sayed Razawi’s leadership in bringing together Muslim and Jewish communities for the Drumlanrig Accord is nothing short of monumental. At a time of heightened tensions and deep divisions, he has demonstrated the courage, vision, and moral authority needed to rebuild trust and foster true reconciliation. His ability to convene faith leaders, not just for dialogue but for concrete action, is a testament to his extraordinary dedication to justice and unity," said Rahat Husain, Executive Director of the Shia Muslim Foundation.
"For years, Imam Razawi has worked tirelessly behind the scenes, organizing meetings, hosting interfaith gatherings, and ensuring that meaningful relationships could be built. His efforts go beyond symbolism—they establish a real, actionable framework for cooperation that will serve as a model not only in the UK but globally.
"His work does not stop here. From his engagement with King Charles III to his advocacy at the United Nations and the Vatican, Imam Razawi has been at the forefront of interfaith dialogue on an international scale. His role in organizing the Imam Husain Day ceremony in Scotland, which brought together political and civic leaders from across the spectrum, further cements his reputation as a leader who unites rather than divides.
"The Shia Muslim Foundation stands in full support of Imam Razawi’s mission and recognizes the immense impact of his work. He has not only strengthened Muslim-Jewish relations but has set an example for how faith leaders should respond to division and crisis—with action, sincerity, and an unwavering commitment to peace.”
Imam Razawi’s tireless efforts over the past year to foster dialogue between Muslim and Jewish leaders have been nothing short of transformative. His initiative to bring together senior religious figures for meaningful conversations, culminating in the historic summit at Drumlanrig Castle, reflects his unwavering commitment to unity and peace.

Presented to King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, the Drumlanrig Accord signifies a new chapter in British interfaith relations. Under Imam Razawi’s leadership, the agreement establishes a framework of mutual respect, collaboration, and practical action to support vulnerable communities and counter prejudice. This bold step sets a model for interfaith engagement worldwide.
Imam Razawi’s leadership extends beyond this groundbreaking accord. As the head of the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, he has consistently worked to build bridges between faith communities. His role in organizing the Imam Husain Day ceremony in Edinburgh, which united Scottish political, civic, and religious leaders, demonstrated his exceptional ability to foster cross-community solidarity.
His contributions have also been recognized at the highest levels, including engagements with the Vatican, the United Nations, and the British government. From advocating for refugee rights to promoting educational initiatives that counter hate, Imam Razawi has shown that true leadership lies in service to humanity.
Imam Sayed Razawi’s leadership in forging the Drumlanrig Accord is a profound act of service that reflects the very essence of Ahlul Bayt’s teachings—justice, unity, and standing for the oppressed. His tireless efforts to bring together Muslim and Jewish leaders in a time of deep division embody the example set by Imam Ali (AS), who urged dialogue even with his adversaries, and Imam Husain (AS), who stood for truth and dignity regardless of the cost.
As Shia Muslims, we recognize that true leadership is not about seeking power but about carrying the weight of responsibility for the community. Imam Razawi has done exactly that. His commitment to reconciliation, his ability to bring people of different faiths together, and his focus on practical collaboration reflect the deep wisdom of our traditions. He has shown that interfaith work is not about compromising principles but about building a just society where people of all backgrounds can live with dignity.
This historic accord is more than a document—it is a testament to the strength of faith in action. It follows in the footsteps of Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (AS), who taught respect for people of all faiths, and the Imams who tirelessly worked to build bridges between communities. In an era where sectarianism and hatred threaten to divide us, Imam Razawi’s work is a reminder that our faith calls us to be at the forefront of peace, dialogue, and justice.
The Shia Muslim Foundation proudly stands with Imam Razawi in this noble effort. His work does not only bring people together today—it lays the foundation for a future where faith is a force for healing, justice, and unity.
